Sweetie and I were in freezing cold New York City this past weekend. Brrrrrr! Wow, I really don’t know how people survive in those kind of temperatures. We got to walk around in a beautiful snowfall on Saturday afternoon, though…the kind of snowfall so soft and thick and heavy that when it falls on your face, it feels as if the big flakes are caressing you. It was enchanting. Further enchantment was waiting for us when we tucked into warm and welcoming Granny-Made at 381 Amsterdam Avenue.

This unbelievably charming store is full of very unique and wondrous things for babies and children (and women! more on that next week)…so of course we found our le•top and rabbit moon clothes there! Michael and Adele, the brother-sister duo of Granny-Made, instantly became our personal shoppers…they just innately seem to know what you might like, to better help you find the perfect purchase. I saw this happen over and over again with other customers in the store. We all admired each others’ purchases and marveled at the variety of offerings at Granny-Made. Ruthie (a huge talent in sweater design!) was also there and added to the conviviality. And of course, Gracie, Michael’s 6 year old Havanese was there orchestrating the whole show.

Adele is masterful in creating the charming and treasure-filled store space and so artful in her displays. I loved watching her fold the clothes so lovingly and artfully. I could tell she really cares about every single item they carry in the store. Just as it does for le•top clothes, I think that kind of painstaking attention-to-detail really shines through in their selections, variety, quality, and standard of customer service. Truly a sparkling gem in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Granny-Made has some select items for sale online, but please tell them you’d love to see your favorite le•top and rabbit moon clothes for sale on their Website, as they really want to hear what their customers would like to see in-store and online. Until then, they are very happy to take fax or phone orders, will ship anywhere in the U.S. and also offer gift certificates, so even if you aren’t in Manhattan, you can experience the warm and helpful professional expertise of Michael, Adele and Ruthie, as well as the fabulous offerings of Granny-Made.

I’m an uncle to 10 nieces and nephews :-O
so shopping for birthday, Christmas and random ‘just dropped by’ kinds of gifts can be extremely challenging and time-consuming. For me, Granny-Made is a gift buying paradise. I LOVE these people! They are warm and wonderful – and Michael’s blue eyes are beautiful to behold! We appreciate them because they love what we make. I think Adele could be a cheerleader for le top – she always brightens my day in New York – just when I think someone didn’t see all the details, she notices! My sister-in-law lives in New York and bought my 4 yr old daughter a dress from Granny-Made. She said that she had such a difficult time choosing what she wanted. They shipped it and everything for her. The dress was beautiful! My daughter loved it.

Granny-Made is a great store! And it’s in my favorite NYC neighborhood. The store is situated between where my mind/body healing center and my home of many years were located. Loved to shop there or even just see what was new in the window!
I live north of the city and I’d definitely like a store like Granny-Made where I live now. When I’m on the Upper Westside I still love to visit!
