gmwelcomeSweetie and I were in freezing cold New York City this past weekend. Brrrrrr! Wow, I really don’t know how people survive in those kind of temperatures. We got to walk around in a beautiful snowfall on Saturday afternoon, though…the kind of snowfall so soft and thick and heavy that when it falls on your face, it feels as if the big flakes are caressing you. It was enchanting. Further enchantment was waiting for us when we tucked into warm and welcoming Granny-Made at 381 Amsterdam Avenue.

This unbelievably charming store is full of very unique and wondrous things for babies and children (and women! more on that next week)…so of course we found our le•top and rabbit moon clothes there! Michael and Adele, the brother-sister duo of Granny-Made, instantly became our personal shoppers…they just innately seem to know what you might like, to better help you find the perfect purchase. I saw this happen over and over again with other customers in the store. We all admired each others’ purchases and marveled at the variety of offerings at Granny-Made. Ruthie (a huge talent in sweater design!) was also there and added to the conviviality. And of course, Gracie, Michael’s 6 year old Havanese was there orchestrating the whole show. (more…)

In preparation for the Go-See we just recently had at le•top, Sarah (one of le•top’s wonderful designers) posted helpful signs all over the office for the throng of child models coming to see us. “Since you’re over the age of 5”, she told us, “You don’t have to comply with these signs.” Sure, on the outside we all are over the age of 5, but we can really be goofy and have so much fun at work, I sometimes wonder! Still, it’s always good to know there is Water in the Kitchen…
