Julia was sitting in her garden watching her daughters pick daisy after daisy and it occurred to her that daisies bring simple happiness to life.  The name Green Daisies seemed unique, and it reflected their goal of creating a store that offered an exceptional, high quality and pleasant shopping experience.  She understands that busy parents want outstanding customer service and high quality clothing, but browsing through stores is not always a simple task with little ones!

Reformed Vampire to be a Father…Again

TC’s favorite Sci-Fi star David Boreanaz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel – and currently starring on Bones) and his wife Jaime Bergman are expecting their second child in September. Their first child, son Jaden Rayne, is now 7.

Their happy announcement was revealed as an apology to fans, disappointed at his absence from the Comic-Con event last week that was scheduled to promote Bones. “I’m a little bit stuck in Los Angeles due to the fact that my wife is on her 34th week [of pregnancy with] our second child.” explains David in his video. “And I’d like you to know that it’s going to be a girl.”

County Fair Fun!

Every summer my family and I look forward to the County Fair. We love the rides, the shows, the animal races, the fireworks, and most especially THE FOOD! Corn dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, chocolate covered bananas, deep-fried Twinkies, and our family’s favorite… FUNNEL CAKES! We visit the fair at least three days per season. One day is devoted to getting there early, pigging out on all the food, watching animal races, riding a few rides, walking around to see the displays, seeing a concert, and staying late for the fireworks. (The two other days are to eat more fair food because it will be another year before we can consume such greasy, fatty goodness.)

This year was my son’s first time at the fair. He is only 3-months old, but we weren’t going to let his age stop us from enjoying this family tradition. Big Sister wanted to show him around to see why the county fair is so much fun. She took him to see a circus act and bought him his first clown nose. Daddy showed him every kind of food he bought before eating it so that he can admire the crazy shapes and sizes, such as footlong corn dogs and tornado potatoes. And I took him to his first rock concert: Night Ranger! I don’t know how much fun my son had or if he even understood what was going on, but we’ll be making sure he knows how important county fairs mean to this family.

Daytime Drama…Another Guilty Pleasure!

Raise your hand if you think we are all “drama queens!”  Is this blog becoming a place for ‘true confessions’ or what?!  Not only have we admitted that we are hooked on reality television, but yes, (GASP!!!) we love our soaps as well! Although there are those at le•top who love GH (General Hospital) and One Life to Live, the classic Day’s of Our Lives stole our hearts a couple weeks ago!  Why? Well, it is NOT the convoluted details of the relationships – but…after E.J. married Nicole – they had a baby – Sydney – who had the panache to appear dressed in le•top Strawberry Fields – petal top and bloomer set!

Children’s hearts – pure and innocent – are the inspiration for Le Top clothing.  The whimsical designs we create here bring smiles to our faces – but children cannot live on clothes alone…they must have shoes to go out in the world!  When preparing for our Fall 2009 photo shoot we looked around the market and came up with the idea of collaborating with a children’s shoe company, hopefully one with the same design esthetic as ours – the choice was easy, pediped™!  We love the shoes – and knew them first hand, since they had been the choice for many le•top and rabbitmoon outfits for Chris’s grandsons.  Anna Carpio (our Design Room manager and Technical Designer) planned everything with Penny Redlin and Lauren McGlynn at pediped™ footwear over the course of three months to find the perfect accompaniment to each outfit in our collection.  Anna says, “They were so easy to work with. A Birthday Party for Dogs!

Our loyal readers should know by now just how much we love dogs at le•top – so we can’t help but share our cute dog stories with you.  Dogs have always inspired us!  At this time of the year check out our puppy, please! collection while we share puppy celebrations that bring smiles to our faces.

Sylvia, our EDI expert, is mommy to a rambunctious 1 year old black lab named Cosmo…as in Kramer from the Seinfeld show. (déjà vu)  Cosmo was a rescue dog, and Sylvia was 1 of 7 chosen hand picked mommies from over 100 applicants that vied for the chance to adopt Cosmo, his brothers and sisters, and his “biological” mom.  This group of chosen mommies, and the foster mom who rescued the matriarch and her 5 day old pups, have banded together – creating a magical extended family.  They have become so close and are so touched by these pups’ story that they find it hard to separate these lucky dogs for too long.

Every three months these special owners bring the dogs back together for a “play date” of sorts.  This quarter they commemorated the pups’ first birthday – and they truly celebrated in style!  Sylvia baked custom cookies for each of the dogs, inscribed their name in doggie-safe frosting, and brought birthday hats for all the dogs to wear.  It was, needless to say, quite a fun birthday party.  By the time Sylvia got home, Cosmo was pooped!  He walked into the house and immediately passed out on the floor….What a fun day!

A Long Forgotten Library Alive with Clothing and Memories!

Mikki Griffith’s dreams have always revolved around children.  As an early childhood educator she invested in all of our futures – by guiding young people towards learning.  Mikki designed and made clothing for her own and other children to supplement her creative bent, but maintained the dream of someday opening a children’s clothing store.  Once retired and living in Northern Wisconsin, Mikki’s dream of owning a boutique came true!  On May 1^st of this year she re-opened the doors of the historic Carnegie Library in Hayward, Wisconsin, paying homage to the 100 year old site by naming her store Carnegie Kids.  She repurposed the original book shelves as display cases for her original creations and those of le•top, rabbitmoon and other fabulous collections!

Mikki has a high regard for the historic site of her business, but gives equal respect to the local community. Currently she is planning a city-wide baby shower for a local Women’s & Children’s Shelter, aimed at aiding women that do not have the support system needed for precious new arrivals.  Carnegie Kid’s customers that bring in diapers, formula, baby food, new or like-new baby blankets, or any other baby related products for the shelter receive discounts on purchases at the beautiful store.  Mikki supports the arts by working with a local, non-profit, live theatre.  She gives a discount to ticket holders and donates a portion of the proceeds to the theatre.  Take a bow Mikki!

Inside Carnegie Kids

Mothers and grandmothers who frequent her store laugh and giggle with delight at her carefully chosen selections – something that brings joy to Mikki’s heart.  A favorite part of her day is hearing the footsteps of the UPS man coming up the walk with boxes that conjure up memories of the days when her own children were small enough to wear and play with the cute clothes and toys.
