Those Yellow Turtle gals love our Father’s Day Mini-Me Contest! So, the ever-so-famous MS bike tour presents a related story! Look at the photo below (yes, taken after a looong ride!)…who is the Mini??? The Father or the Son??? The Mini-Me caption really got J.’s attention – apparently it is a joke in her family because, well, Alec is now bigger than his Dad (Bob) – which is why J. asks the question: Which one is the Mini? Is this a trick question, J.? 😉 Tell us, who do you think is the “Mini”?

Meanwhile if you know a dad with a Mini-Me of his own, enter our easy contest for a chance to win an exclusive, “sneak peek” $100 prize of our gorgeous and much anticipated le•top Fall 09 Collection! Just send us a photo of a Dad and his Mini-Me (look-alike), and his Mini-Me gets the fabulous threads! Contest ends on the 19th with a winner announcement.

It's Dad and his Mini-Me...or is it Alex and his Mini-Me...?!?

Look! It's a Dad and his Mini-Me...or is it a Son and his Mini-Me...?!?

Alec in le•top, with his tricyle and...is he holding a bug?

Alec (Yellow Turtle baby model!) in le•top, circa 1993, with his tricycle and...is he holding a bug?

J. at Yellow Turtle found a “vintage” photo of her son in le•top and sent it over for fun. I loved the old tricycle and the whole composition of this photo; the un-mowed grass, the dandelions, the lone tennis shoe and little Alec looking like the quintessential, all-American portrait of little boy having a great summer! Of course, I wanted to share with everyone on the blog, so I asked J. for a more recent photo of her son, Alec (now 18), and she sent over a few. I noted to her that there seemed to be a cycling theme, and she said her niece, Alec’s cousin, has MS, so Alec has been doing the Bike MS ride since he was 12! Alec and his dad do this ride every year. Last year Alec raised over $2000 – they both rode 75 miles each day, in the hills of Vermont! J. and her daughter are the cooler girls – they wait at the rest-stops with drinks and food. Great family support! We’re looking forward to photos from this year’s Bike MS in Vermont which will be held August 8-9, 2009…Go, Alec!

Liana Hunt as Liana Hunt, and as Sophie in Mamma Mia!

Liana Hunt as Liana Hunt, and as Sophie in Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! just finished their (almost) two-week stint in Los Angeles last night. Our whole family went to LA to see Liana and her castmates their first weekend there. Now, it’s off to Tucson. Then, she goes on break for 2 weeks, and, then…she is coming home to Mamma!! Can’t wait.

lianaatgrphs…as reported by: proud mama, Lisa (of Liana Hunt and owner of Vermont’s Yellow Turtle)

I’m late in sending reports – but better late than never! Opening night (Feb.27th) was so FABULOUS!! Liana opens the show by herself, and that was just an incredible moment in time…I cried (and cried!) and couldn’t see anything for about the first 15 minutes of the performance!! The people of Kentucky were so wonderful — the friendliest town imaginable. Liana is now en route to Davenport, IA. She has already been to Lexington, KY, Paducah, KY, Bloomington, IN, & Duluth, MN. What a schedule for just 2 weeks! Now they will spend more time in each location as soon as they get to Palm Desert on Monday. Liana has been through the absolute worst weather, so hopefully that will also change on Monday. She reported that the audiences in Duluth had fantastic spirit! Life on the road takes some getting used to for sure. She misses home cooking! A group of wonderful people in Lexington hosted them to a Southern home-cooked meal in a local Baptist Church, though, and I had the pleasure of attending and can say that: I ate the best Bourbon Bread Pudding in the universe!!! Thanks to them!!!lianacncssn

Liana Hunt is Sophie in Mamma Mia!

Liana Hunt will debut as Sophie in Mamma Mia! on February 27, 2009 in Lexington KY

Liana Hunt, Yellow Turtle’s “baby model” is debuting next Friday in the lead role of Sophie in the North American Touring company for Mamma Mia! Do they still say “Break a leg” as a good luck wish in the performing arts? We wish her and her proud tribe in Stowe, Vermont the very best. Liana’s proud mamma, Lisa (owner of Yellow Turtle) is going to be in Lexington for the big debut and the big opening night party (I’m not jealous, no, really, I’m not)!! All I can say is, Lisa better send us some fun photos of the party to share!

I’m sure there’s an ABBA song that would be appropriate to quote here to express our excitement and joy for Liana, but I can’t think of any because I’m too excited for her to think straight!

Liana is deep in rehearsals right now, but we’re sending her the very best of luck and success!

Liana Hunt...wow...look at that face...gorgeous!! Congratulations!!

Liana Hunt...wow...look at that face...gorgeous!! Congratulations on getting the lead role!!

When I found out Yellow Turtle’s “baby model” got the lead role of Sophie in the North American Touring company for Mamma Mia…well, I was bursting with pride and pleasure and joy for her (CONGRATS, Liana!!) as well as her mom! Liana just finished her classes at NYU on Dec. 16th, and then her agent called her the very next day to offer her the lead role! Can you imagine what Lisa (owner of Yellow Turtle) must have been feeling about her daughter getting this fabulous role? Wow! I really wanted to write about Liana and Mamma Mia, but not knowing anything about it, I followed a hunch and turned to Jamee…

Erin: Do you know anything about Mama Mia? I’ve never seen the stage version, nor the movie that just came out, and I need to write about it…help!

Jamee: It’s Mamma Mia. (Two “Ms” in Mamma.) And YES I saw it, and I LOVED IT! You have to know all the ABBA songs to truly enjoy it, but it’s just a really good time! The Broadway musical is way better than the movie. They sing “Dancing Queen” at the end and try to get everyone to get out of their seats and dance. They try to copy this in the movie version and it was just okay. Miranda LOVES Mamma Mia as well. All my fault. 🙂 She sings all the songs. We sing them in the car, we sing them at home, we sing them at grandma and grandpa’s house…it’s contagiously fun! It’ll be so exciting to see this performance live with Miranda. I know she’ll be dancing in her seat! When is Liana’s tour coming to SF!?! (more…)

Miranda insisted on wearing her tiara because a girl can't ever have enough "bling."

She insisted on wearing her tiara because a girl can never have enough “bling.”

I was reading about Erin’s (and sweetie’s!) visit to Vermont and Yellow Turtle, and loved one of the dresses they had featured in their holiday window display: the le•top Light Blue Winter Wonderland Snowflake Dress. That dress is too adorable, and I commented how unfortunate it was that my daughter didn’t fit in le•top clothes anymore, especially since she’s above average in height for a 4-year-old. I really thought Miranda was too tall for the dress. Boy, was I wrong! And what a great way to find out! Because a few days after posting that comment… (more…)

Yellow Turtle in (brrrrr!) snowy Stowe, VT

Yellow Turtle in (brrrrr!) snowy Stowe, VT

Here is a photo of Stowe, Vermont’s Yellow Turtle (Look Jamee Virginia, it’s real SNOW! All that white stuff on the roof is inches and inches of snow). Yellow Turtle is chock full of all things fun, adorable and warm for kids. They are at the Red Barn Shops at 1799 Mountain Road. And because they’re so close to the Stowe Mountain Ski Resort, you can imagine that along with all our wonderful le•top clothing, they’ve got a large selection of ski/snowsuits to bundle up your little snow bunnies for the ski slopes or lodge!
