It’s Getting Hot in Here!

The sun came out in Northern California and it got HOT! I guess TC and I had the same idea. It’s time to cool down those kids and let them have fun with water. Paulo packed his backpack with his swim trunks and a towel and headed over to his friend’s house for their weekly playdate. Splish, splash! Let’s go have some fun.

Sadly, the weekend came and it was cold and windy once again. Make up your mind, Sunshine! You’re either in or you’re out.

Summer in February?

That’s right! While it was snowing in other parts of the United States, California had temperatures ranging in the 70s with full sun last weekend. Not a cloud in the clear blue sky! And instead of being cooped up at home watching the Super Bowl, we spent the day enjoying the beautiful summer-like weather in the middle of winter.

In typical Bay Area fashion, we dressed in layers leaving the house wearing pants and sweatshirts (and even throwing a coat in the car just in case). But I couldn’t believe that we all stripped down to shorts and t-shirts by lunch time! My daughter even wished she brought her bathing suit.

I guess the groundhog not seeing his shadow is true because spring is on its way over!

Is it fall yet, Mommy?

The first day of fall for 2009 (in the Northern Hemisphere) was September 22nd.  Ever since Miranda learned that little nugget of information in Kindergarten, she has constantly asked me (every day since September 22), “Is it Fall yet? Why is it so hot?” All I could say was, “Yes, it’s fall but it still feels like summer. I guess the sun is just having too much fun to cool things down.” I don’t know why she has been so persistent. Was she excited about Halloween? Going to the pumpkin patch? I don’t know.

 On the first day when the weather looked cloudy and cold, she asked me again, “Is it fall yet, Mommy?”

“Yes, it looks like it.”

“Yay! I can wear my favorite sweater!”

It figures. It would be fashion-related coming from my little girl. (sigh!)
