A wooden tree swing is a great addition to any play space. It can also encourage children to spend more time playing outside, and outdoor activity provides many benefits. Hang a tire from a branch, and let your kids experience the sensation of flight at home. When it gets hot, really hot, a kid’s only choice of outside play without water is to take to a swing. A gentle push rewards your child with a cooling breeze and a hypnotic rhythmic sway. How relaxing! To sway, spin, and fly through the air — that’s what swings are good for. The tire swing is a classic, and hanging it from a tree brings the fun to your own backyard.

Summer is here – kids are decked out in shorts, flip flops, suntans and are in need of summer fun activities that are great for at home or in the backyard. One great activity is tie-dyeing a t-shirt! It’s no wonder this 70s hippie fashion phenomenon has survived decades…it’s bright, buckets of fun and a great excuse to get your kids and their friends excited for a mini daytime party! Tie-dyeing is both a fun family activity and the perfect way to spruce up plain clothing without breaking the bank.

Even adults will appreciate that moment of anticipation just before the unraveling of rubber bands reveals their own vibrant creations.

Last weekend was beautiful here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since the feeling of spring was in the air my daughter and I went to our local retailer for a few outdoor supplies. We arrived home and set everything up in anticipation of some friends coming over.

When they arrived there was a Slip‘n Slide, a couple of Hippity Hops and other toys for the kids, as well as plenty of snacks and refreshments for us all. I’m so happy it was a hot day because the kids played in that Slip’n Slide for over 4 hours. We would make them temporarily stop when their lips turned blue and they were shivering but minutes later they would be back at it. This time of year always brings me back to my childhood and now I get to create those memories for my little one.

Happy spring!
