After a simplified explanation involving “umbilical cord” and “getting nourishment to the yet-to-be born baby,” Ethan got kind of squirmy and said, “Ew!” I asked him what he thought a bellybutton was for up till now, and he looked at me with a perfectly straight face and said, “Style.”
