No, I did not say that!

My husband gave our daughter his old alarm clock radio so that she can wake up early and start to get ready for school, while he got ready for work. She was very excited!

The first morning, he had to wake her up. Apparently, he set the wrong clock time. He had the AM and PM switched so the radio came on at 7:30 PM that night.

The next morning, he had to wake her up again. Apparently, he forgot to turn ON the alarm clock.

The following morning he had to wake her up AGAIN (for the third time)!

“Did your alarm clock work today?”

“Yes.”

“What happened?”

The radio woke me up so I got up and turned it off. Then I went back to sleep.”

No, I did not say that!

A little girl was on her swing set as her daddy pushed her up in the air. She squealed with delight saying, “I can almost touch heaven!” Then she paused and asked,

Daddy, how do you get back down from heaven?”

Miranda (wearing Princess Rose from the 2009 Fall/Winter Collection) is too excited for her date with Daddy.

I’ve been waiting to see Disney’s The Princess and the Frog with Miranda. I mean… WAITING with ANTICIPATION!!! So when the movie came out, guess who decided to take her instead? Her Daddy!

“It’s not fair. I want to take her!!!!” (Of course, I have to whine.)

“You just took her to see A Christmas Carol.”

“Yeah, but that movie wasn’t really for girls, and it was the only movie playing in the theater that was rated PG.”

“I haven’t been to the movies in a long time and I want to take Miranda.”

“Fine. You go. But I’m warning you. It’s a girl movie.”

After my little tantrum, I’ve accepted that it was okay for them to go. I’ll just catch it on Netflix. It will be a nice treat for Miranda, AND it’s true… Daddy and Daughter haven’t done anything together (just the two of them) in a while. Besides, I needed to go Christmas shopping for Miranda anyway.

“Miranda, promise me that you won’t tell me the ending, okay?”

“Okay, Mommy. But, why can’t you take me to see it again?”

“Because the next time you’ll want to go the movies, you’ll probably want to see a different movie, like Alvin and the Chipmunks.”

THE SQUEAKQUEL!!!! All the single ladies… all the single ladies…”

When they came home, Miranda was so happy and excited. “Mommy, Mommy! Guess what?”

“Remember… Don’t tell me the ending.”

“I’m not. I just want to tell you my favorite part!!!”

“Okay. What’s your favorite part?”

“Daddy fell asleep!”

“WHAT?!” glaring at Daddy. “I told you it was a chic-flick.”

“It was only for a short while during the boring part.”

“Hmmmmm…”

We recently sent our favorite Miranda, Jamee’s five year old daughter, some dresses from our new le•top Fall 2009 collection. Jamee just had to share with me how this little drama unfolded as Miranda opened the box containing the new clothes:

Miranda

Miranda Gardening in Style Wearing her Kaleidoscope Drop Waist Dress

She had just come home from day camp and was overly dramatic when she saw the box with her name on it.  She proceeded to open it up (with my help of course) and said ‘Oh, mommy! These are all for me? Oh, I love them! I love them ALL!!!’ (You can insert eye rolling mother here.)

Her favorite is the Kaleidoscope drop waist dress. Her exact words were ‘My favorite is the green one. I’ve been wanting this one for a long time!’ Of course I was just looking at her askance, because where would she have seen this dress?

I know she must get it from her daddy! She is watching Cinderella 2 right now and probably memorizing new lines to try out on me…”

I got a laugh from visualizing this little drama unfold and could not resist sharing this with you. Do you have any little actresses in the making?  What fun they are! Clearly we have an entertainer on our hands!

Amidst the normal wife-critiquing-the-husband’s-wardrobe-choice, their daughter looks at Mommy and says,

Mommy, Daddy can wear whatever he wants. He’s older than you.”

Hey batter, batter, batter...

Hey batter, batter, batter...

Faith (of Klassy Kids in Waldorf, MD) really knows how to make my day. I just sat down to my computer to go through the lot of emails flooding my inbox this morning (combined with a sinus headache from our lovely allergy season), and hers was the first one I opened. She attached pictures of my favorite le•top and rabbit moon model, Trey, from Mother’s Day! “He loves to play ball”, she captioned, and it really shows. I started cracking up when I opened the second picture. Trey’s facial expression is priceless, he really looks like he is about to throw a tricky slider and strike out batter #1 “Daddy”. I reminisced about the first pictures I received from Faith when Trey was born (not too hard, since they are posted just to the right of my screen), and marveled at how amazing it is to watch a child grow up. Trey is not even two years old yet, and he is already getting “So BIG!”  They grow fast, don’t they…!?!

OK, now of course, I have to talk about the clothes! 🙂 Trey is wearing (and expertly modeling, I must say!) the striped Submarine collection shirt and terry short (shown below) from rabbit moon. Click on the image to see the entire Submarine collection and use the store locator to find a rabbit moon retailer near you (if you don’t live near Klassy Kids!).SubmarineTrey

1stSmileIt’s the best feeling to get a smile from your baby. His response that tells you that he recognizes your face and your voice. At five weeks, as I cooed to my son, I finally got my first smile from him. But capturing it on film is another story. So this is my attempt at getting him to smile, while holding my iPhone at just the right distance so that I could capture his toothless grin and email it to Daddy. (And in this picture, he looks just like his Daddy.)

The Joy of Breastfeeding

I have been breastfeeding my newborn for the last two weeks, and one time I was teasing my 4-year old daughter that maybe one day Daddy and I can go see a movie while she stayed home and babysat her little brother. She said,

I don’t think milk will come out of my nickels.”
