Le Top Darlings of the Day: Grace, Lila and Addison

When Leah from N’Tended for Kids in Lynchburg, VA sent us photos of her delightful daughters, we jumped at the chance to use them as our Le Top Darlings of the Day. It just doesn’t get better than this. Not one but three beautiful little girls in our adorable summer fashions. Grace (3-years-old) and her twin sisters, Lila and Addison (8-months-old) are making the most of their summer by frequenting the beach in their Le Top “Love Bug” pinafore (top) and “Catch a Wave” (middle) bathing suits, and Le Top “Sun and Sea” cross-back jumpsuits (bottom).

We’re told that Grace loves clothes and shoes! She dresses herself in the morning and then wants her sisters’ outfits to be coordinated with hers. Aawwe!! The twins think that Grace is an amazing and absolutely hilarious big sister. They laugh at any and everything she says. Grace’s personal fave-collecting shells on the beach. Though the twins are not so thrilled with the sand they do love strolling on the beach.

Magnetic Lunch Chart – Not just for Back-to-School, but Summer School too!

With summer school now and back-to-school in August – every day can be difficult to whip up a tasty bag lunch that your child will want and not feel sick of. A kid may be more likely to eat her lunch if she or he helps choose the menu. When your child uses this magnetic chart to map out her meals for the week, it saves time and helps make grocery shopping easier.

Print the attached magnetic lunch chart (Courtesy of Martha Stewart) on a full size magnet sheet. Then glue colored construction paper to another magnetic sheet. Cut the colored magnetic paper into rectangles. Together, come up with a variety of sandwiches, fruits, healthy snacks, and desserts; then print the names of the meals out onto the mini rectangles and let your child put them on the refrigerator to choose for each day!

A Day Made for a Kid!

This past Sunday, my daughter (4 1/2-years-old) and I went to visit with my parents. There was an Art and Wine festival in town that we were told was very kid-friendly. They weren’t kidding (no pun intended). There was a large area with slides (where you ride down on a burlap bag), carnival games, rides for kids of all sizes, and a rock climbing wall.

After playing a few games (we won a stuffed bear), catching air on the slide, and enjoying a few rides, my daughter spotted the rock climbing wall! We left the front of the helicopter ride line to run over to the wall. I wasn’t sure if she would actually climb it once we got close to the wall, but she was fearless. They harnessed her into the pulley and off she went! It was a stretch for her, since I think it was really intended for a slightly taller crowd, but she made it about half-way up the wall before she looked down. Never look down! Once she did she just shook her head “no” when given the option of going higher. All she had to do was let go of the rock and the rope brought her gently down to the ground. I couldn’t be more proud. Hopefully next year she’ll make it to the top!

There are always fun fairs and local festivals in an area near you. Get on the Internet and search for the kid-friendly options. There is something for everyone and you don’t have to commit to an entire day. Who knows, your child might even try something new if they see other kids their age enjoying it. Enjoy your summer!

It was Super Bowl Sunday, and we were supposed to go to a Super Bowl party, but the weather was gorgeous, sunny and warm (especially for February)…who’d want to stay indoors? Since my husband isn’t a big baseball fan (yeah, I know, it’s football…that was a joke!), we decided to hit the beach. I love the quaint little town of Capitola in Santa Cruz, because not only am I a few feet from the ocean, but I can also shop! Capitola Village has the cutest children’s apparel store called Little Loves Closet (previously known as European Children’s Clothing). They have been in business for 10 years, and still going strong! I usually stop by there to pick something up for Miranda. I just love that store!

Little Loves Closet is located at 110 Stockton Avenue in the Merchantile Shopping Center. This charming sidewalk store carries the most fashionable children’s apparel at reasonable prices. And they always have a sale going on! They have a wide array of baby and children’s clothes (up to size 12) and a nice selection of le•top brand clothes for boys and girls (sizes 0 – 6x). Since they’re near the beach, they carry le•top bathing suits all year round! They also sell shoes and boots, rain coats, costumes, pajamas, and other accessories.
