Judah is a lucky boy to have a delightful doting sister like Emmy to hold his bottles and teach him to climb a jungle gym. I’m sure that little charmer appreciates her unending wisdom.

Kerry Walsh may have two gold Olympic medals in Volleyball but now I’m sure she has a lot more to be proud of!  Kerry gave birth to Sundance Thomas Jennings on Wednesday May 19 in Torrance California.

Kerry and her husband Casey Jennings are expanding the family; they are already proud parents of Joseph Michael who will be celebrating his 1st birthday this coming Saturday.

According to Kerry’s rep, Sundance weighed in at 6lbs 12oz and measured 19 ¾ inches long.

Congratulations to Kerry and Casey on their newest addition to the family and happy 1st birthday to Joseph Michael!

Paul and I are presently in Hong Kong – diligently working on the development of the upcoming Spring 2011 le•top, le•top baby and rabbitmoon collections.  We love Hong Kong (Paul’s birthplace) – it is a truly exciting city – the pace is fast and everyone seems to always have a purpose.  This is a fabulous place to absorb energy and excitement!  However, there are times that we miss our ‘other’ home in California – a place that is quiet and peaceful.  Yesterday we discovered that we could experience serenity – surprisingly enough right in the middle of Hong Kong!

Paul’s brother Anthony invited us and other family members to visit the Nan Lian Garden – a place we did not even know existed.  This is a classic Chinese style garden, in the style of the Tang dynasty, that was built over a period of more than 5 years.  The garden covers an area that is over 8 ½ acres – with meandering paths that take you on a journey that results in calm and tranquility.  Beautiful rocks – some so huge we wondered at how they could have possibly been transported – and grown trees were transported in from areas deep in China.  The garden was designed with attention to the minutest details – the buildings in the garden were all constructed using ancient building techniques – everything is put together without the use of nails, just as they did centuries ago.  There are ponds with large koi fish, waterfalls and beautiful plants.

This garden is part of the Nan Lian Buddhist Nunnery – and held in trust for the enjoyment of the public.  There are no entrance fees – but a strict set of rules that everyone follows – no touching of the garden elements, no shouting or running and in general that visitors show respect.  The moment we entered the garden we felt a sense of peace descend – truly magical!

There is a special restaurant in the garden, maintained by the nuns, that serves vegetarian cuisine of the highest quality, appearance and taste.  We were treated to a very special dinner by Anthony – every one of the ten courses of the meal was entirely vegetarian – following Buddhist traditions that revere all living things.  I could not believe how delicious and varied the dishes could be!  We had a truly special experience – one that I will never forget.

If you are ever in Hong Kong take the time to visit this very extraordinary place, literally a stones throw from streets thronging with people and shopping areas filled with modern amenities.

Get me outta here! (Paulo is wearing a warm and fuzzy le•top faux leather hat from the 2009 Air Show collection.)

Since it’s been raining a lot in the Bay Area, that means it’s snowing in buckets at Lake Tahoe. To get out of the wet weather, my husband and I packed up the kids and our snow gear and headed out to have some winter fun… WHEE!

This was our son’s first time in the snow. I’m guessing he’s not a fan. I’m sure when he’s older he’ll figure out how much fun snow is. His big sister already said that she’s going to teach him how to build a snowman and make snow angels. But I have a feeling this little guy will enjoy making snowballs and hurling them at us.

Singing her heart out in le•top's 2009 Deck the Halls collection (She was able to wear it for Valentine's Day.)

The past couple of months has been quite busy for my daughter. Her school was having a talent show and she wanted to be IN the talent show. I needed to explain to her that there is an audition and that not everyone will make it in the show. I thought I was going to have a tough time explaining this concept to her, but she knew what “audition” meant.

“You mean, just like how Gabriella and Troy had to audition in the movie ‘High School Musical’?”

“Yes, just like ‘High School Musical’.” (Never, since the creation of this movie, have I ever appreciated this movie UNTIL NOW!)

Through the month of January, Miranda and I had been practicing the song I selected for her to sing (“A – You’re Adorable”). She never heard the song but I thought it would be appropriate and cute for a Kindergartner to sing. So we sang in the car, we sang during breakfast, during lunch, during dinner, she sang in the shower… We sang everywhere and any time so that she could memorize the words and remember the notes to the song.

The day of the audition, I was a ball of nerves. Miranda, however, was as cool as a cucumber. She even asked, “Why are you nervous, Mommy?” I didn’t want to transfer my fears into her confident little soul, so I just said, “I’m just nervous that your baby brother might start fussing while you’re performing.” To which she replied, “Mommy, if I don’t make it, it’s okay. I can still watch the talent show.” (That totally melted my heart!) I watched her audition and she didn’t miss a beat. As soon as she heard her song start, her game face was on. With a big smile on her face, that little girl of mine sang her heart out!

The selected acts were posted the day after the audition. Out of 65 acts, only 15 were chosen. And guess who was one of them? It was a proud moment for me and her dad (who had been texting me all day wondering if we had found out the results yet). The talent show was last week. She had three performances but I felt like I was running a marathon! I don’t know if I can handle being her manager if she continues in this career path. 🙂

Miranda is wearing "Cute As A Button," and Paulo is wearing "Walking With Dinosaurs." (Both from the le•top 2009 Fall/Winter Collection.)

I mean, brother. 🙂

While our 5-year old was busy playing with a borrowed Nintendo DS, we couldn’t help but notice that her little brother was curiously watching her hold this intriguing contraption. He hasn’t seen anything like it before so he observed intently as Big Sister played happily. Soon enough, he snatched the game right out of her hand… THREE TIMES!

You’d think she would get annoyed or cry about it. Instead, she laughed because it was funny to see the determination in his face AND to discover how quickly he managed to take the toy away from her so he could have a better look. (She IS also a very patient big sister.)
