The sun is dipping lower in the sky and the nights grow just a bit cooler…do I see the hint of color in the leaves?  Fall is in the air!  With the fall season fast approaching there is excitement brewing here at le•top!  It’s Back to School!  Well, we do get excited about Fall fashions, but there is something else that stirs the senses – FOOTBALL RIVALRIES!  Yes, this cute and cuddly children’s clothing company is home to some serious fans – so while we are busy shipping our FABULOUS Varsity Blues collection to waiting retailers our football fanatics are ‘showing their colors!’  Since le•top is available in retailers across the United States we thought we would ask a few ‘fans’ here in the office where their loyalties lie.

Sarah and Diana in Their Jerseys

Sarah and Diana in Their Team Jerseys

Sarah, our le•top assistant designer loves her team!  Sarah, growing up in Montana, really had the freedom to choose any team in the country – they are not ‘next’ to anything!  She relates that her mom, a native of North Dakota has always favored their ‘neighbor’ – The Minnesota Vikings.  Her Dad went with the Chicago Bears – but Sarah had to break with the family and choose the Indianapolis Colts.  Why???  Peyton!  She fell in love with football when Peyton Manning hooked her with his ‘Hail Mary!’  Now she is here in the San Francisco Bay Area…Niners? Raiders?  She maintains “I’m a Colts fan for life!’

Diana, our customer service specialist extraordinaire, took at little different path to loyalty…She grew up in Los Angeles – a ‘city girl.’  The Raiders, based in LA during her childhood, gained Diana’s loyalty as she watched football with her older brother.  She followed football just because she idolized her brother, and football was the common bond. When Diana, a ‘Navy Brat’ moved to the Bay Area (her father was stationed at Treasure Island) found out that the Raiders were moving back to the Bay Area there was celebrating in her family!  She can’t wait until September…Go Raiders!

If you are “READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!” check out the le•top Varsity Blues collection – you fans and dads will love it!  And as for me…NINERS RULE!

On Monday, I talked about some of the fun and discounted family specials the Seattle Mariners are offering this summer. You can read about it here. Today, the team up is my FAVORITE team, the Oakland A’s:

Oakland_AthleticsOakland Athletics (did I mention they are my favorite team!?!)
The Coliseum
7000 Coliseum Way
Oakland, California 94621

Price Range: $9.00 – $48.00

$2.00 Tickets, $1.00 Hot Dogs presented by BART: At every Wednesday home game you can purchase Plaza Level, Plaza Outfield and Plaza Reserved tickets for only $2.00 and hot dogs throughout the park are only $1.00.

Fireworks night: Fireworks night at The Coliseum is so much fun especially on summer nights. After the game is over (and hopefully with an A’s win!) fans are allowed on the outfield grass to watch the show. So, bring a blanket and relax and enjoy the lights with the family. Next fireworks night is Friday, June 26th. Game time @ 7:05 p.m.

Root Beer Float Day presented by Pepsi: Not only will you get a refreshing treat to enjoy during the game, but you and the kids will get to meet some of the players! (Yum! Oh. Wait…”yum” to the root beer float, not the players!)  Thursday, August 6th at @ 10:35 a.m.

Giveaway Days:
Backpack day – Sunday, August 23rd @ 1:05 p.m. (First 7,500 kids, 14 & under)

So we’re almost done with the West Coast teams on my list…can you guess which Major League team I’ll be talking about on Friday??

The lovely scenic drive of I-5

The lovely scenic drive of I-5

Not all can be so fortunate to stay home for the holidays and relax with our families. Some of us have to travel to far away places–either by plane, train or the dreaded car ride (Do you want me to turn this car around?!) –and cram the entire family and dog in the van, along with 12 suitcases, casseroles, pies, jackets, pillows, blankets, etc. It was so much fun this year that I can’t wait to do it again next year… Not!

This Thanksgiving, we drove down from the Oakland to San Diego. We usually fly but with the amount of gear we had to bring, driving was the better option. If my husband and I didn’t have kids, we would probably make it there in about 6 hours, maybe 7 with minimal detours. However since we have a 4-year old in tow and I’m pregnant, we had to make numerous stops: potty stops, food stops, and I’m-going-to-go-crazy-if-we-don’t-stop stops. (more…)
