The actor’s wife, Erin Ludwig, delivered daughter Mia Loren Ziering at 10:09 p.m. Monday, April 25 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz.

A source told PEOPLE that “the baby girl’s name begins with ‘M’ in honor of Ian’s late mother Micki.”

The former Beverly Hills 90210 star couldn’t wait to share his thoughts with his fans about his new baby.

“Well, it’s official, I’m a dad!” he wrote on Facebook. “As I sit holding Mia, Erin sleeps the most beautiful sleep. My thoughts race with visions of a brighter future, only made possible by what happens today… or, last night! God bless us all.”

On Twitter he shared, “OMG life is about to change. Going baby shopping for the first time! Stroller, crib, yikes!”

We think he should make sure to pick up the Le Top “Flutterbye Butterfly” sleeveless one-piece romper for little Mia. It would be perfect for that Southern California weather.

Congratulations to the happy family!

One of the best holidays of the year is JUST around the corner…MOTHER’S DAY! Not a Top Chef and want to get the kids involved? Here is a fun idea to surprise mommy with breakfast in bed…or vice-versa…if you want to be a super mommy on Mother’s Day, make this fun breakfast for the family.

Idea:

  1. Using a cookie cutter in the shape of a heart or just simply use a knife, cut out a small heart shape from the center of a thick slice of bread (make it wheat for a healthy morning breakfast). Spread each side of the bread with butter.
  2. Heat skillet over medium heat.
  3. Saute bread until golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Lower heat and gently flip toast.
  4. Break an egg into the heart-shaped hole. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook until egg white turns opaque white, which is about 5 or so minutes.
  5. Transfer to plate along with the heart-shaped piece of cutout bread. Add some nice fruit on the side and even a flower from the garden to make her smile. Finish with a big hug for mommy. Ta-dah!
