I am well into my 27th week now and of course the biggest question now is “What are you naming your baby?” Aaron (my husband) and I have had this little boy’s name in our little blue book for years. We have always talked about naming our first son Elijah. Aaron said that it was a name that was put on his heart about 10 years ago when we started dating, and has never left that special place it has been tucked away in. For me on the other hand, it has always been a name I have just liked. I have found little pieces of paper pushed back in dresser drawers, boxes and computer files (oh yeah we are so 21st Century now!) and almost every one of them has the name Elijah written on it. So to us it was destiny that we name this little guy Elijah.
I was reading an article the other day that was talking about the top names for babies in 2010 and why they think these names are becoming so popular. For us, thinking we were being somewhat unique (as unique as an Old Testament name can be) Elijah is number 32 on the list! I could hardly believe it! Other names that topped their list for boys are: Jacob (thank you Twilight), Jack (Pirates of the Caribbean?) and Evan (Maybe The Olympic Skater?). I find it fascinating as to why people name their children the way they do. I love the names that have stories behind them, I think it adds just a little something extra to that child/adult; makes them a little more intriguing or something.

I had a long list of names I liked but most of them got the eye roll from my husband. I looked through a bunch of baby naming books and it was the only one that we both agreed on. I think my husband may have heard the name on a show he was watching.
I love Elijah. It’s so cute!
My story is much like the previous commenter.. I like unique names, my husband traditional. ..every name that caught my eye he would have something to say about it. Finally after going through the name book as we got to the last few pages something magical happened -we agreed and we loved it. Now that my Wyatt is here, I can’t think of a better name. 🙂
Great Stories! Thank you for sharing and keep them coming!
