While out shopping the other day, Lilah was telling me all the things she liked and wanted at that moment – it seems that commercials are already having an impact on her. She was struggling with the concept of “Wait for Christmas” or “Put that on your Christmas or birthday list”. Lilah was relentless and I finally gave in on an item from the $1 bin. When I did, she loudly proclaimed:
You are such a good mom!”
All of the people around me laughed. I guess that she’s learned about positive re-enforcement. I wonder if she is as aware as I am of what she’s doing. 🙂
She is most likely VERY aware of what you are doing! I was at that age. My mom always called me the “negotiator” If I asked for two cookies and she said “no” I would say, “ok, how about 1 cookie”. It was always a “you give a little, and I will give a little mommy.” kind of thing. To this day I still negotiate with her and my dad.
Oh dear! I just had a reality check thought….this is what I am going to have to deal with in about a year! Oy!
She is definitely a negotiator – through and through. She will work me until I give in to something. I hope that serves her well in the future.
