Babies’ brains develop quickly during their first 12 months. Their brains are rapidly absorbing and acquiring new skills and understanding from their interactions with adults and anything in their surroundings. Right now my boyfriend’s niece, Ari, 9-months-old, is learning to wave “bye-bye” and “clap hands.” I find myself sitting alone with her saying “Clap HANDS! Clap HANDS!…boom, boom, boom!”  It is amazing how much you can teach a child by signing…thinking about it — Have you ever wondered why parents are so amazed and happy when their baby learns to wave “bye-bye”? This is one of the first innate forms of communication between a baby and a parent.

Superstar Lach (pronounced Lock) has been chosen for our Darling of the Day.  We’re told this handsome, sweet, bright boy made all A’s and B’s AND won the Music award for the first grade class this year. Nice job!!  He is also on the local swim team and won several first place ribbons this summer, making his family incredibly proud.
