Notice all the toys strewn about? Paulo would rather play with a box instead of his toys (in le•top's 2010 Gone Fishin').
Every room in my house seems to be cluttered with cars, balls, musical instruments, magnetic letters, plastic food, dolls, action figures, and even this enormous Tonka trunk! But it all comes down to this: He is going to have more fun playing with the box it came in. I should just stop buying toys. For his next birthday, I think I shall wrap a box… an empty box… because, really, that’s what he’s going to play with for hours!
Other things my son likes to play with are:
- the remote control
- my iPhone
- shoes (the dirtier, the better!)
- the door stopper
- newspapers (loves to shred them to pieces)
- house plants, especially the soil
- the curtains
What’s your child’s favorite “non-toy”?
This picture brings me back. I had that same Tonka truck and a ton of stuffed animals.
I’m with you on the stuff strewn through out the house. At age 3, I think Lilah gets more enjoyment out of balloons, balls, and pillows to roll through the house on than any of her toys.
Miranda plays with Paulo’s toys now. Of course, when she’s playing with them, HE wants to play with them too, then the crying begins. 🙂
He also likes to play with his sister’s lunch box when she gets home from school. He’ll carry it around the house. So cute.
Last year for Christmas my cousin came up to visit it with her husband and her son Benjamin (who at the time was about 6 months). I bought him a cute toy for Christmas and he played with it for a while but he then noticed the box that it came in. Well he seemed to like the box a lot more than the toy because he would not put it down and everytime I tried taking it away from him he would cry!
Well at least he enjoyed something that I gave him!
Ok i always loved the refrigerator boxes! We would make cars or playhouses out of them. I remember one time my dad going down to the fridge store just to get a box for us!!!
Oh and Forts made out of couch cushions and sheets!
