As of this moment, I know 10 women who are pregnant – all due at different times of the year. These are people I actually know, not just celebrities and their pregnancies. I remember a couple of years ago, I knew 14 women who were expecting! That’s a lot of babies. And a whole lot of baby showers! And then the birthday parties! (And we don’t need to mention all those diaper changes, clothing changes and laundry, right?) 😉
So it got me thinking, could it be something in the water? Or is it a cyclical pattern that women get pregnant every so often? Or is it, perhaps, that I’m just at a phase in my life when almost everyone in my age group is moving on to the next phase of life? Whatever it is, it’s quite amazing that I know so many women who will be giving birth and holding a new bundle of joy within the year.
Congratulations to all my family and friends!
Just for fun, here’s my list:

I swear that sounds like my life! Just when I thought I would get a break from all the Bridal Showers, as we have “married off” most of our friends, a new kind of “shower” comes along! Among my friends and family, we have 5 current or just past pregnancies! Erin was the first- Delivering Feb ’09, then Sara delivered March ’09, Joslyn and Sarah S. are due in July ’09 and Rachael in Oct. ’09. We laugh that it is our version of a “baby boom”…but I am not so sure it is “just” ours anymore!
P.S. In our office, Kathy’s D-I-L gave birth in Feb. 09, Julie’s Daughter is due in August and Barb’s Daughter is due in June!
I can only say that there must be something in the water!!
When I was in my late 20s everyone I knew was pregnant, of course they had all been married a year or two at this point. Now that I’m 42, it seems it’s starting up again. I am the oldest of most of my friends by 2 to 10 years but those who waited for marriage and babies seem to be kicking it into gear.
Oh wait!!!- Sarah B. who used to work for us, is having #2 December ’09! Add that one to the ongoing list!
Okay…I just have to say it – I LOVE ALL THESE NEW BABIES ON THE WAY!!! Hey, I make baby clothes…what else would I be feeling! I just want to say – I was waiting for this! Every time there is a recession (or whatever name they have bestowed on this challenging economy) – there is a baby boom that follows – TRUE! My thoughts on this – when you have less $$ to go out you have to have SOMETHING to do to amuse yourselves!
That’s funny, Chris. Ain’t that the truth! 🙂
I’m so glad to hear it’s not just us! My list is also long, of course I share some of Kristin’s list. It’s pure baby madness I tell you!
Hilda – Jan 09
Erin – Feb 09
Deanna – Apr 09
Erin – May 09
Joslyn – July 09
Glaudia – Aug 09
Rachael – Oct 09
Stephany – Dec 09
That’s 8 right there. Then add in that my boss is trying again for baby #2, and I wouldn’t be surprised if my sister-in-law announced a pregnancy by the end of the year either!!! 😉
Glad business is good for le•top!
Wow Kaitlin, you do have a long list, yes we do share some of those people in common, but definitely not the last one. 😉
Right right, definitely not. I’m KM, you’re KD. Definitely no “in-law” about that!
You’re right Kaitlin. So your sister in law must think that is awfully presumptuous of you to expect her pregnancy announcement by year’s end…depending on how she feels on the subject….glad that is not me 🙂 LOL~!
