Karen's sons and Olive before school, celebrating St. Patrick's Day
Take a guess – where were we last week??? New York of course! The sales staff just returned from showing our Fall 2009 Collection at the ENK Children’s Club show – held 4 times a year at the Jacob Javitts Convention Center in New York. We were presenting styles for the upcoming fall season to buyers – and they were eagerly placing orders. Our new collection was a big hit in the Big Apple!
We saw these great “show your green” shirts and couldn’t resist buying them to make all of us feel a wee bit Irish and to surprise Kathy (our ace salesperson and, incidentally, Chris’ sister) who was born on St. Patrick’s Day (yes, she really is part Irish, hence the name Kathleen Ann!). We showed our Irish spirit by wearing our shirts in honor of her birthday and presented Kathy with her own Shamrock shirt … which she promptly loaned to Karen for yesterday’s ‘Happy St. Pat’s’ photo … because both Karen’s sons wanted the shirts to wear to school for St. Patrick’s Day … so Karen loaned her shirt to … oh, never mind! 😀 Let’s just say that when it comes to kids and clothes here at le•top, the kids and clothes always come first!!
Just some interesting St. Patty’s day facts:
1. Patrick descended from the Gaelic version- Padraig. Hence “Paddy” and not “Patty”.
2. A Paddywagon was a police car (eg wagon) that went around and corralled all the drunken Irishmen (eg Paddy’s)- Hence, Paddy- Wagon. (this the most common idea of why it’s called a Paddywagon, though there are a couple others)
Now here is an interesting fact about the “I *shamrock* NY” shirts: the person that came up with the idea and produced the shirts initially is a college classmate and friend of my younger daughter Melissa. Melissa moved to the Big Apple after college – as well as her friend Joe. It was a great concept! Joe sold his T-shirt business a few years ago – but when I see the shirts all over NY I always think “entrepreneurship is alive and well!”
We were looking to see what Olive was going to wear. Clarice wondered if Olive had a durag to wear.
Seriously, if I could figure out a way to kidnap Olive and get away with it, I would!! 🙂
Greetings from east of the Mississippi! Well, boys, you look great. Too bad Olive didn’t have a green collar…
