…IN 5 MINUTES!
I received this recipe from my friend, Amber (from Boerne, TX). She found it on one of the many blogs that she reads (like ours!) and made this delicious little cake IN A MUG! She raves about how easy this recipe is and thought our le•top readers would enjoy it as well. Perfect little project to do with your child on a cold, rainy day!
I wish I could try this as a Valentine treat, but with gestational diabetes, I’m going to have to wait until after my little munchkin delivers. It’s a perfect dessert for two, or for someone eating for two. 😉
Five Minute Chocolate Cake In A Mug For Two
4 tbsp flour
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp oil
3 tbsp chocolate chips
a splash of vanilla
1 large mug
Mix all the dry ingredients in a mug. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the
milk and oil, and mix the batter well. Then add the chocolate chips and vanilla, and mix again.
Place the mug in your microwave oven (1000 watts) and cook for 3 min. The cake will rise over the top of the mug but don’t be alarmed. Allow the cake to cool a bit and tip out on a plate if desired or eat right out of the mug. Serve with ice cream on the side. Voilá… dessert for two. (Thanks, Amber!)
No WAY! Yummilicious! I’m going to the store and making this tonight!
I made this last night (had all the items in my cabinet YAY). It was very yummy and super fun to make! I love that I could do it all in a mug and the microwave!
I tried it and it was amazing!! Hot chocolate AND chocolate cake are two of my favorite things, so imagine how excited I was to eat chocolate cake out of my favorite hot chocolate mug!! I’m eating for two, but allowed my husband to have a bite… a small one.
Funny, Sara! That’s right… when you’re eating for two, Daddy can only have limited bites. 🙂
I also made it last night! It was super easy to make!
…but a small side note for all of you who are as useless in the kitchen as I am (actually my friend made the mistake, but shhhh! She reads the blog, so we’ll just pretend it was me)…make sure you don’t skip any ingredients…Don’t worry, the egg made it in the recipe as a last minute “oh no!” addition, but mixing the egg in last, isn’t easy or pretty! 🙂
I was wondering how Kristin, I mean, your friend was able to make this, given she doesn’t know her way around the kitchen!
Erin – way too funny! So her cooking skills, or lack there of, are no secret around the office, huh? (side note: if you don’t hear from me at all next week, you’ll know who’s responsible… 🙂
Check out her le•top Chef Series entry for homemade mac and cheese using our search tool. I posted it for her so it’s under my name, but she submitted the whole thing!
YES! Kristin is all about Kraft, “In the Blue Box!” as she so joyfully says…ah yes, I love this girl very much! I have to tell you though, she makes some mean out-of-the-box brownies, yes she does! And if she really loves you, she’ll even make a box of brand name brownies!
OK WAIT JUST A SECOND! If you take a CARE to LOOK at MY recipe for HOMEMADE mac N cheese, you will in fact see that IT IS NOT THE BLUE BOX BLUES! It IS in fact HOMEMADE!
…and as for my cooking skillZ….I will admit that I am “DOMESTICALLY CHALLENGED” and that most of what I made comes from the store and is ready in 10 minutes or less!
NAME BRAND BROWNIES ARE THE BEST! HHAHAH…ROTFL!
Finally able to get the ingredients and can’t wait to make this tonight! I’ll make sure I add the egg in the order it needs to go! 😉
