A place for everything and everything in its place...for now!
My friend, Erin T. (everyone will soon realize I have many people in my life named Erin or Aaron!), is 7.5 months pregnant and never thought “nesting” was a “real” thing. More or less, she thought it was an excuse to stay home and redo a room or something…that is, until about two weeks ago when she called and said, “I have ten bags of baby clothes that were just handed down to me. Can you come over and help me sort through them?” Of course I said “YES!” Being in the children’s clothing business, I love going through baby clothes and see what people are putting on their kids (besides our brands!). Let me tell you, there were some really cute clothes in those bags…and I was very happy to see le•top and rabbit moon clothes (and no they were not from me) in the mix! We trudged through and weeded those ten bags down to about three, with the rest for donation. Whew! that was some work.

We then put everything into size categories: newborn, 3mo, 6mo, 9mo, 12mo, 18mo, and toddler. We boxed up the 12 month and older clothes for next year (she is due around Valentine’s day). After I left, the real “nesting” began, she hung up all the clothes on the great Le Top hangers I had brought her, and she made cute little size rings for the closet…and then she called her husband, “Sean, honey? I love you….can you paint the room in pink and brown stripes?!” Nesting phase, you think? I think Erin’s a believer that it’s for “real” now. 😉
Erin T., what I want to know is…did your husband Sean get the room painted?
I actually wanted him to paint one wall chocolate brown with tone on tone stripes. So we did flat paint and semi gloss stripes with the same color.
He he he and yes nesting is a real thing!!!
I loved the Erin T story! I could just picture the entire episode. What fun.
Erin T., we want photos! I bet it looks wonderful!
It is very real and I’m waiting for it to kick in. I’ve been so lazy lately and need to get into high gear and get my baby room ready. There’s so much to do!
Erin T. is definitely nesting, it is so sweet to watch and even to be a part of. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her, looking through all the clothes. And Erin, sorry I thought you did brown and pink stripes, I guess I need to get over there and check it out! I will send pictures to Erin L. (whew! way too many erin’s in my life)!
It’s real and necessary. I’m a nester by nature but it went in to high gear when I was pregnant. A friend of mine shipped all of her daughters clothes to me (newborn-4) and I was also very happy to see some le top in there (that I had nothing to do with). The hand me downs are some of my favorite clothes. Also, when I recently passed down my daughters clothes to a friend and then was over helping her sort and organize, it was fun reliving all those outfits. I know some people hold on to their favorites but I like to just take pics of my daughter in them and pass them down for others to enjoy.
