Liana Hunt...wow...look at that face...gorgeous!! Congratulations on getting the lead role!!
When I found out Yellow Turtle’s “baby model” got the lead role of Sophie in the North American Touring company for Mamma Mia…well, I was bursting with pride and pleasure and joy for her (CONGRATS, Liana!!) as well as her mom! Liana just finished her classes at NYU on Dec. 16th, and then her agent called her the very next day to offer her the lead role! Can you imagine what Lisa (owner of Yellow Turtle) must have been feeling about her daughter getting this fabulous role? Wow! I really wanted to write about Liana and Mamma Mia, but not knowing anything about it, I followed a hunch and turned to Jamee…
Erin: Do you know anything about Mama Mia? I’ve never seen the stage version, nor the movie that just came out, and I need to write about it…help!
Jamee: It’s Mamma Mia. (Two “Ms” in Mamma.) And YES I saw it, and I LOVED IT! You have to know all the ABBA songs to truly enjoy it, but it’s just a really good time! The Broadway musical is way better than the movie. They sing “Dancing Queen” at the end and try to get everyone to get out of their seats and dance. They try to copy this in the movie version and it was just okay. Miranda LOVES Mamma Mia as well. All my fault. 🙂 She sings all the songs. We sing them in the car, we sing them at home, we sing them at grandma and grandpa’s house…it’s contagiously fun! It’ll be so exciting to see this performance live with Miranda. I know she’ll be dancing in her seat! When is Liana’s tour coming to SF!?!
Erin: Um. OK. Wow! I guess you know your Mamma Mia! I only have Liana’s touring schedule for the first six months, and SF isn’t on it. The second half of the year isn’t out yet.
Jamee: Where’s Liana now?
Erin: Right now, she’s in rehearsals for her final Showcase at NYU. Then she starts rehearsals for Mamma Mia. Her very first performance is on February 17th in Lexington, KY. Oooh…I’m getting nervous just writing about it.
Jamee: This must be thrilling for her! All you Kentucky readers are the lucky ones to catch the first glimpse of Liana. Please let us know how it goes!
Erin: I’ll keep everyone posted about her schedule. And maybe Liana will write us once in awhile, and tell us what it’s like to be a star…wow. We’ll all so happy for you, Liana!! 🙂

J.
Hey J! Just looking at Liana’s photo makes me smile. She just radiates happiness! I can’t wait to see her. You go keep selling le•top!! 😀
I saw Mamma Mia when it first debuted in SF in 2002 or so! I took my then boyfriend (now husband) because he had never seen a stage play before and I had grown up watching them (Phantom, Evita, Les Mis., Starlight Express, etc) and thought he HAS to see one! He was less than thrilled to hear it was a musical with ABBA songs, but let me tell you, by the end of that play HE was up dancing and singing with the crowd- we both were! We will be SURE to catch another showing when Liana is in town!!! Until then I think we will calm our jitters waiting for her by going to see WICKED! (can you believe we missed seeing it the first time it was in town?!)
I Was Wondering that Liana should join the cast of the national tour of Bring It On: The Musical in the role of Kylar.
