Alexandria and her dancing candy cane
My niece Alexandria and I were playing dress-up with a few le•top outfits, and her mom decided to play one of her daughter’s favorite songs, ‘Alphabet Sounds’ by Barbara Milne. When my niece heard the song, she grabbed her candy cane (given to her by Santa that same day) and started to dance while singing, “Apples, apples, a, a, a. Baby, baby, b, b, b…”
While I was trying to take snapshots of Alexandria with the outfits, her dancing candy cane got closer and closer to my camera, until I pretty much fell over because her candy cane got so close, it knocked me out! Looking at these photos always make me smile now…it was like the dance of killer candy cane! 😉 It also reminds me of how easily amused (and totally absorbed) children can get with something we adults consider inconsequential or mundane!
And as a designer, of course I have to make a fashion/style note about the clothes(!): Alexandria and her mom were both in love with the ‘Twinkle‘ dress. Her mom told me that she just loved the luscious fabric and deep color, and Alexandria loved the feeling of the crushed velvet while she was dancing. I assume that means Alexandria was happy wearing the dress!
