Lilah by the office Christmas tree
I brought my daughter into the office this morning for a quick visit and to try on some clothes. As usual she walked around with me staring blankly at everyone, not really giving an indication that she was happy to be here. Everyone in the office said, “Hi Lilah” in their sweetest voices and talked to her. No response. A few people did their best to make her smile by bobbing behind me while I held her. They made funny faces and sounds, anything to get a rise out of her.
The whole time, I only once saw a slight upturn at the corners of her mouth. She begrudgingly posed for me next to the office Christmas tree and let people give her candy and hold her but most people thought she was just tired, grumpy, and not happy to be here. She barely made a peep except to wave and quietly say, “Bye”. When we got out to the car to head back to daycare the first thing she said was “MORE?”.
I guess she got a kick out of everyone trying so hard. If only they knew how much fun she really had!
How cute is she!!!! I love the colorfully ornamented (is that word???) Christmas tree. It reminds me of growing up and getting to pull out all the trinket-like ornaments that we made in school and hanging them on the tree. My sister and I would fight over the one’s with our baby pictures inside, trying to decide who was who (we looked almost identical as babies)! Awww the memories.
Visits from our le top kids always brighten our day. My children have grown up le top kids ( I started working at le top when my son was 9 months old – he is now 22) Their favorite visits to the office were when ‘Uncle Paul’ was here -he always made time for a McDonalds lunch break and roller blading in the warehouse.
