Another holiday light show in Hong Kong

Okay, I just had to share this photo with you! Last night we were driving past one of the hotels in Hong Kong and they did these amazing lights on the trees out front! I had never seen this effect – the lights are shimmery blue – and they covered the trees and the ground underneath them. Some how it just felt magical! Unlike Randy from “A Christmas Story”, I love meatloaf (and unlike Randy, I can eat it without a meatloaf-smashed-potato face mask…but then, um, I’m a grown up). It’s the last day to enter our Messiest Eater Photo Contest! Submit your photos here. Voting begins December 10th and ends on the 17th, so remember to tell your friends and family to come by and cast their vote. Winners will be announced Thursday, December 18th. Good luck!

Yup, she is also a really good sport! Karen sent me some photos the other night after her family decorated their tree. I had spoken to her 2 boys on the phone during the festivities – they were SUPER excited! (They also promised to help ‘Aunt Chris’ next week!) But amongst the photos sent to me were photos of long suffering Olive – dressed for the season. We love the book Olive, the Other Reindeer – and now we have the proof! By the way, what child HASN’T confused the words in the song???

pancakefaceLast Sunday morning, I felt like having pancakes. So while Daddy and daughter were busy upstairs (playing, reading, watching TV), I decided to go downstairs and make breakfast. I opened a box of premix, added water and eggs, and heated up the griddle. While I poured the first scoop of batter onto the pan, I started to rummage through the pantry to see what else I can have. Hmm… what can I do with these mini peanut butter cups? …DING! I’m going to make smiley pancakes. (more…)
