Last week I took my daughter to see Santa Claus at the mall and get our annual photo. This is the first year she talked his ear off about how we had to go to different stores, and try on different dresses, and how she had to find the perfect dress to wear with her red, sparkly shoes. I never thought she had an obsession with fashion.
Every year, Santa asks the same ol’ question, “What would you like for Christmas?” This year my daughter animatedly and excitedly said, “CLOTHES!” And she was very specific, too. She wants play clothes: t-shirts, pants, socks, camisoles, etc. How many 4-year olds ask for clothes? (I swear, that Santa gave me the stink eye and looked at me as if I made my daughter say clothes.)
So tell us, what are your kids asking for this Christmas?
That is one authentic-looking Santa!! Wow! Too bad Santa’s sleeves are covering up her pretty dress. Sounds like your daughter is a big fashion maven like mine is. My little one asked for clothes this year, too. Only dresses! Cannot get her to wear pants which drives me nuts when it’s so cold outside. What can you do…
I’m a blue jeans and sneakers kind of girl, so this whole “Mommy, let’s go find the perfect dress to go with my sparkly shoes” is throwing me off. Thanks for commenting!
My daughter is such a girly-girl, and I have no idea where that came from. I often wonder how this could have happened to me, of all people. I’ve never even worn makeup, let alone cared about clothes. I’m hoping it’s a phase because I’m feeling really not up for the fashion-plate job.
I’m very grateful that my 19 months old son has no idea about Santa yet. I think he’ll be more excited about the boxes than the actual gift. His dad and I talked and decided we really don’t need to buy Austin (our son) anything since everyone else in the family will get him stuff. Having said that, after seeing some Target commercial the other night, his dad said,” I really think Austin needs a Mr. Potato Head.” So, if I see Mr. Potato Head under the tree, I’ll know Santa came after all.
We have yet to go to Santa, but so far they haven’t mentioned specifics…thank goodness! But we did get the tree up today, and they are talking about leaving cookies for Santa…so I’m sure before this weekend is up, we will get a “list” for Santa!
